We were absolutely thrilled to have been named winners of the Midlands Choir of the Year 2024 at the Lichfield Festival! Reflecting on the experience, it still feels surreal.

The whole evening was an incredible showcase of talent. The overall standard of the other competitors was astounding, and we genuinely felt any of the acts could have taken home the judge's prize. When our name was announced at the end of the night, we were stunned and overjoyed in equal measure.

A massive shoutout goes to the phenomenal competitors: The Derwent Singers, Inspire Choir at The Hub St Marys - Lichfield, VocaBella (whose barbershop set was a standout), The Staffordshire Show Choir, and Chanteuse Chamber Choir. Special mention also to Cor Bach, the previous winners, who delivered a fantastic rendition of Mr Blue Sky—a song close to our hearts as we perform the same arrangement in MaleVox.

We are deeply grateful to the staff and volunteers at the Midlands Choir of the Year for putting on such a fantastic event. It was a privilege just to be part of it.

On that note, MaleVox is currently recruiting! If you—or someone you know—might like to join an award-winning choir, please reach out. We rehearse fortnightly in Birmingham city centre, and our doors are always open to anyone who’d like to watch, listen, or sing with us.

Looking ahead, we have a number of exciting events on the horizon, including a Christmas Show with the aforementioned VocaBella and the reigning BABS Youth Quartet Champions, AmiQuartetYou can find tickets for that show here

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported us and to all the choirs out there working tirelessly to create beautiful music. Your dedication truly makes the world a better place.

(P.S. To all who joined in the “ham banter” during the online Q&A, you are the festival's unsung heroes. Hamter forever!)

With love and gratitude,
MaleVox x
